Nothing surprises me when it comes to the antics of the MNR.

Just built a new resort. Liquidated everything I owned to do it. During construction I applied for a shoreline permit for improvements. MNR gave us the go ahead saying "no permit required". Just before we opened in summer of 2005, we got charged with doing shoreline work "without a permit" and a Stop Work Order was issued.

It's been a two year court battle that no one could possibly afford. It has effectively destroyed the business given that swimming and playing at the waterfront is what a resort is usually popular for. We have an eyesore...who wants that!

To boot - there is a canal where the lake flows through with beaver dams and now sand (someone put sand on their beach front and it washed away...no chages laid there though..) so only 4" of water flows over it. Remote area here and local people used to clear it out each year UNTIL the infamous MNR said - no can do - so now the end of the lake is getting all silty, water levels rise (never did before) and this certainly doesn't help the fish spawn. If this keeps up it will go from being a No. 1 Lake to a Dead Lake. So much for protecting the environment.

Good Luck Bob!
